The Oil Tank Culture Park embraced by Maebongsan Mountain near Seoul World Cup Stadium is a cultural park renovated from the Mapo Oil Depot, which was the heritage of the industrial era of Korea. While the public's access to and use of the facilities had been strictly prohibited for about 41 years, they were returned to citizens through the urban regeneration project.

Najido Island, which was a major landfill of Seoul, was reborn into World Cup Park in May 2002. The park consists of four smaller parks including Peace Park for the peaceful coexistence of nature and humanity; Haneul Park, a vast silver grass field where the ground and the sky meet; Noeul Park, one of the best sunset viewing spots in Seoul; and Nanjicheon Park with many beautiful willow trees.

In line with the 2005 project to lay the Gyeongui Line underground, which operated aboveground, the old railway with a total length of 8.5 km that connected the Yongsan Cultural Center and Susaek Station in Mapo-gu was transformed into a linear forest park. It is an important martyrdom site in the history of the Korean Catholic Church.
